She held many roles at YCC including Village Supervisor and Coordinator, and Program Director of both Jr. and Sr. Side. Katie has experience with creative programming, staff training and leadership development that she is excited and ready to share with the YCC team. Samantha is a grade one teacher with over 20 years of experience in the classroom. She is the mother of two YCCers who love spending their summers at their home away from home. Samantha is a YCC alumnus who spent the best summers of her life at camp.
Samantha loves mentoring new teachers and future leaders. At camp, her role is to support and mentor staff, giving them strategies and tools to help campers be their best selves. She is also hands-on to help campers integrate, resolve conflict, and cope and overcome homesickness. Her favourite part of her role in camp is saying goodnight to our Jr Side campers at bedtime.
Sam’s favourite camp memory is spending her summer in the Village (CITs of 95!) She can still remember how it felt to sing her almamater on stage in the Huberdome. She is most looking forward to working with all the staff again and getting to know the campers!
Camper and Community Care Team
Stephanie is a psychologist working in private practice with children, adolescents, and adults. For over 20 years, she has worked in elementary and high schools and universities. She’s developed and ran many workshops and groups and worked individually with people on anxiety, fears, stressors, ADHD, behaviour, relationships, mood, self-confidence, anger, social skills and life transitions and challenges.
Stephanie is so excited for her first summer at YCC. Stephanie has always loved sleep away camp cherishing the special friendships and unique activities. Her favourite daytime fun was spent in Arts & Crafts, on the lake and riding horses and her best nighttime memories came from bonfires, socials and hanging out with her bunkmates. From a young age, she was a camper at various camps in Quebec, Ontario and Maine.
Stephanie is really excited to be back at sleep away camp as part of our Camper and Community Care Team. She’s looking forward to working with campers and staff so they can enjoy the best summer at their home away from home. She knows that all sorts of feelings and experiences come up at camp – some we love and can handle easily and others we have a harder time with. Whatever the case may be, Stephanie will be supporting the YCC family, both staff and campers, with whatever difficulties they are going through. She’ll help them build skills that they can use at camp and then take back home with them to better manage challenges
Coordinator of Specialties and Special Events
Kelly spent her first 11 years at YCC as a camper, CIT, and staff member, and returned as adult staff in 2015.
The only thing better than spending her summers at YCC is having her three kids there as campers, loving it as much as she does. Kelly’s favorite camp memories are tied between camp-wide bonfires with everyone singing along to songs from the YCC playbook, running the Armageddon game during Color War, and her amazing SR. CIT summer in Village 96.
Kelly is looking forward to spending another summer at her favorite place, working with the staff to continue making each summer at YCC the best one ever.
